Ethical Approval

Journal of Coaching and Sports Science (JCSS) requires research involving human participants, human data, biological materials, or animals to comply with applicable ethical standards.

Research involving human participants must obtain ethical approval from an appropriate institutional ethics committee or authorized ethics review body before the study is conducted. Authors must include an ethical statement in the manuscript specifying the name of the approving institution or ethics committee, approval/reference number, and date of approval.

Research involving human participants must be conducted in accordance with the ethical principles of the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki. Informed consent must be obtained from all participants or, where applicable, from their parents, legal guardians, or legally authorized representatives.

Research involving animals must comply with applicable institutional and national ethical requirements and relevant animal research guidelines.

If ethical approval was not required, authors must clearly state the reason and, where applicable, identify the institution or ethics committee that granted the exemption.

For research that did not involve human participants or animals, authors should state:

“This research did not involve human participants or animals and therefore did not require ethical approval.”
